Building a blockchain analysis tool for CertiK

[February 2019]

As part of a 2-week long externship at CertiK, a NYC blockchain startup, our team of Yale students researched & presented formal verification risks. I was responsible for graphic design on the team.

Legal writing for MT Law, LLC

[May to August 2018]

The summer before I started college, I worked as a paralegal at MT Law. I wrote, copy-edited, compiled, and filed immigration petitions to the USCIS.

A sample of documents I would write and copy-edit. Heavy stuff!

Cancer research at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT

[June to August 2017]

In junior year of high school, I was lucky enough to be a research assistant at the Broad Institute. I worked in Aviv Regev's lab on novel methods in ribosome profiling, where two-thirds of my time was spent in a wet lab under the mentorship of Dr. Tamara Ouspenskaia, while the other third was spent learning & using a pipeline of command-line tools. This was my very first exposure to Terminal & Bash!

Working at the Broad was such a privilege. I often took elevators to work with CRISPR greats like Feng Zheng. As the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing protocol was rather new in 2017, this was the most exciting thing that could happen to my little biotech brain.

As a culmination of my work, I presented my research in a scientific symposium at the Broad Institute and I wrote a 15-pg academic paper for the Siemens Competition.

The final work. As I was already proficient in Adobe Illustrator, that is what I made this poster in. Dr. Ouspenskaia was so impressed that she asked if I could make visualizations for her research paper submission too!

Managing Media Techs for the Student Technology Collaborative at Yale

[October 2018 to April 2020]

I had a short stint managing Media Techs for Yale STC. This was my first paid campus job, which I took in freshman year, and my job consisted mostly of creating infographic posters for how to use our rentable media equipment. Later, when I became a manager in my second year, I also rehauled the communication system of the team in an effort to streamline productivity.

I took this opportunity to practice using the pen tool on Adobe Illustrator.

Stuff I did for fun

In junior year, I won the t-shirt design competition for the computer science department at Yale. It was pretty interesting seeing my professors wearing my shirt. To this day, I still notice my friends wearing this shirt when we hang out. Sometimes, I'll even see a stranger on public transport wearing it. This shirt made a much larger splash than I anticipated... I guess it's true that there are a couple thousand copies out there! Funnily enough, I've lost my own.

The infamous shirt.
